Speaker Bios

Richard Chuang is a two Academy Technical Awards for his pioneering work in digital animation and visual effects. He is also one of the original founders of PDI/Dreamworks, an Emmy graphics design winner, and the visual effects director for 16 live action films.

Ai-Xuan Le Holterman, MD is the U of Illinois Vice Chair of Surgical research, Director of Pediatric Surgery at Carle Foundation Children’s Hospital of Illinois, and founder of IPSAC-VN  non-profit which recruits volunteer clinicians and develops programs for pediatric surgery-related clinical and research support in VN.

Douglas Shinsato is the co-founder of Anthill Ventures, a technology incubator with offices in Singapore, Hyderabad, Tokyo, Taipei and Hawaii.  It focuses on the intersection of sustainable energy, water purification, telemedicine, sustainable food production, food chain serialization (anti-counterfeit), and big data analytics.

Dr. Kelvin Tan is a PhD fellow specializing in humanizing technology for tele-rehabilitation for stroke patients at the Sao Po Center for Aging at Hong Kong University. His recent projects include the first of its kind Modern Aging accelerator program in Singapore.

Dr. Milton Chen is the founder & CEO of VSee – the only NASA-approved video telehealth platform used by astronauts aboard the International Space Station.  Milton is also the co-author of the XMPP video standard used by Google and Facebook Chat. Milton has gone to Iraq twice in the past year, working in refugee camps to provide telemedicine.

Prof. Quan Vu, PhD is Vice Dean of HCMC University of Science & head of its AI Lab. He is a two-time Vietnamese Talent Contest winner — the highest award in the Information Technology field in Vietnam—for southern voice software & auto-responder system for the visually impaired.

Richard Bakalar, MD has over 30 years of clinical, health informatics and executive leadership experience. Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine, he was a physician executive for Microsoft health solutions, Chief Medical Officer for IBM health solutions, and former president of the American Telemedicine Association.

Joe Maristela has angel funded and guided startup companies for over a decade—mostly in the U.S., Singapore, and Hong Kong, in 2015, he established Katalyst.ph—a startup incubator and accelerator in Manila (Philippines) which has assisted 50 startup companies to date.

Caroline Mizumoto is an advisor and angel investor to technology startups in Silicon Valley. She was an early employee at Twitter where she developed digital and social media strategies for Google, Microsoft, Disney, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Dalai Lama, UNHCR, and others.
